Greetings Church Family:

Happy Independence Day!  As we celebrate our national independence this week, take some time to remember the independence and freedom Christ has given us from sin and bondage.  I love our 4th of July celebrations - friends, family, cookouts and fireworks!  But I love the joy, peace, freedom and purpose we have in the Christian life.

I hope your summer is going well and that if you haven't already had a summer vacation you will soon enjoy the opportunity for a respite from our summer heat that has finally come upon us.  Pastor John and Maria are finishing up their sabbatical and will be rejoining us soon.  Praise be to God who has granted them this opportunity for time away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life.  I'm praying they are refreshed and reinvigorated.

Here are some updates and announcements for the month of July.

This Sunday is the First of the Month, Communion Sunday. Always a great time to fix our attention on the redemptive work Jesus did for us on the cross, remembering His sacrifice and great love for us.  Join us for worship and fellowship and Pastor Bill will be finishing 1 Thessalonians.

Tuesday is the 4th of July.  If you desire to enjoy the annual fireworks show at Petrack Park with us we will be meeting on the East treeline, just north of the Bob Ruud Community Center building.  Some of us will be there as early as 4pm if you want to come hang out and fellowship together.  The town always has a great fireworks display and their is nothing quite as good as being right there under them!

Vacation Bible School -Babylon - Daniel's Courage In Captivity, is scheduled for July 17th-21st.  We can still use some volunteers to make this the best VBS yet!  You may think you are not qualified or capable, but you are!  God is the One who makes us capable, all we need to do is make ourselves available and He will do the rest.

We are planning and praying for 100 kids to participate this year and we need many hands, feet, hearts, and bodies to pull this off. Please see Rebecca Payne to get all the details and to volunteer.  We are already signing up participants, ages 4-12 years old.  Register online by going to the website at www.calvarychapelpahrump.org

'For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.'
Ephesians 2:8-10

Let us find our purpose and joy in the Lord.  I hope to see you all soon.
